Ray's List: The Mad List

MAD MAGAZINE on Cartoon Network may be the funniest, artsiest, freshest show that you are missing.

The Cartoon Network show is based on the popular magazine that has been a favorite on news stands since 1952. Not to be confused with the former SNL rival MAD TV.

MAD on Cartoon Network really is an animated version of the monthly magazine.

Here's A Few Reason Why You Should Check It Out!

1. MAD is an original-With out the success of Mad Magazine would there even be a Cartoon Network?
How many people who work at CN were either readers of MAD or influenced by readers, writers and artists of Mad Magazine. I know it was my dream job at age 15.

2. Mad Is Still Original-Over the years a few MAD rip offs came and enjoyed various levels of success there was Marvel's Crazy and also Cracked. I thought both Crazy and Cracked were excellent comedy magazines. However, only Mad has been able to stay into the 21st century. Mad is still full of ever changing and original ideas ...all of them funny.

3. The Humor In MAD should make you think more than it makes you ANGRY.
One thing I enjoy about MAD while reading as an adult is that the humor is often based on serious issues, Hollywood's lack of new ideas, and just the funny things in life.

4. Watching Mad on Cartoon Network is a great way to connect with your kids. Why watch an episode and then share some classic issues or go to the news stand and pick up the latest.
It should be a great way to at least encourage the enjoyment of reading.

Good Night Neil Armstrong!

WHERE NO OTHER MAN HAD GONE BEFORE!

The word unique is used too much in this internet word.
So is the word "Exclusive."
The third most exclusive club in this world may be Men  Who Have Been Heavy Weight World Boxing Champs." And I remember when that meant something.

The second most exclusive club IS ...Men who have walked on the moon.

THEE MOST EXCLUSIVE CLUB is The First Man to Walk on The Moon.

That my friends was Neil Armstrong.

Most of us mere mortals from bloggers like me to the cast of Star Trek have only been beyond earth's atmosphere with our imagination.

Neil Armstrong who passed away this Saturday was living proof of Science Fact.

I for one will always love him for that.

Good Night Neil Armstrong and as long as there are people dreaming on other worlds or merely dreaming about other worlds on this one. Your courage and achievement will live on.

Robots....Made In Man's Own Image

COMPUTERS, ROBOTS and ANDROIDS...OH MY!
`
If there's one thing that Fiction and Science has taught us is that robots, androids and computers are capable of the same petty short comings as their creators.

Yes they have learned to be friends, house keepers, doctors.
They have also tried to take over the world and some how thought it "logical" to destroy all life because of its un predictable and emotional nature.

Still what is a good Fiction and Science series with out the robots we love and sometimes fear?

Who are your favorite Robots, Computers, Androids and why?

BRING ON THE BAD GUYS: Harcourt Fenton Mudd

Star Trek The Original Series', Harcourt Fenton Mudd is the blue print of a villain "you love to hate" or maybe even "hate to love."

The first time we meet "Harry Mudd" is using an alias. In one hilarious scene Mudd, Spock and The Enterprises' computer go back and forth on Mudd's name and who he really is. This set a long running premise that would carry into future appearances that what Harry Mudd saw as his reality and what was legally true were often at odds.

One thing I liked about Mudd is that he seemed to be the one human in the Star Trek world that really acted like the schmucks from the 20th century.

Sure if given the chance Harry Mudd would leave you marooned on a planet with out a ship. However, he never really showed any signs of being much more than an incredible pain in the butt.

His upside is that he was funny especially in scenes when he had to interact with the super logical Mr. Spock.

According to WIKI, they had planned to bring back Harry Mudd for the season one finale of Star Trek The Next Generation but actor Roger C. Carmel passed away before shooting could begin.

I myself would have loved to see Mudd engage the Quark in a juicy story.

Easily Harry Mudd is one villain I never tire of and can't wait to see again or read about in fan fiction.

Raymond Tyler

Okay thanks for reading. We have a no contest trivia question.
What was the alias that Harry Mudd used in his first appearance on Star Trek?
The first person to answer will receive a Super Man DVD from The Max and Dave Fleischer 1940's series.
