Office of Scientific Intelligence

PROLOGUE
Words By Barry Riggins
Based on and Inspired by The Novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin
Which Became The 6 Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman

My name is Oscar Goldman.
Well at least that's what it states on all of my government issued ID, today.
And today I head The Office Of Scientific Intelligence.
More people in America know President Obama's White House direct line number then knows our office exist.
In fact my pay checks say that I actually work in accounting, but then that's as much fiction as what the American people really know about science and tech.
Don't be surprised every major country has an counter part to us.

It is my job to make sure that America despite reality TV, and i phone 6's, and everything else remains at the forefront of science. It is also my job to protect scientific discoveries and in some cases "obtain" discoveries and information that we do not currently have.

I never said my job didn't get dirty and today I start one of the dirtier jobs on my to do list.

I am out here in the Arizona desert.

Rudy Wells:  Hey Oscar. If we are going to do this? This is just as good a place as any.
I have double checked everything at the facility established here.

Oscar: Good. We have not been able to keep up with the mutantagenic accomplishments coming out of Japan. If "Operation Cyborg" fails....well "operation cyborg" can't fail. Do you have the names?

Rudy: Based on the physical and mental profiles of the most accomplished field agents in the FBI, Department of Enhanced Humans, Para Science Intelligence, OSI, the 5 major branches of service and NASA.
I have come up with 3 names of perspective subjects that should be able to handle our first wave of Bio-kenetic-enhancements.

Oscar: I know you don't like what your country is asking you to do Rudy.

Rudy: Save It "Oscar."

Oscar: Fine. Then let's go back to my office...and see who will be the world's first "bionic man."

Ray's List: The Mad List

MAD MAGAZINE on Cartoon Network may be the funniest, artsiest, freshest show that you are missing.

The Cartoon Network show is based on the popular magazine that has been a favorite on news stands since 1952. Not to be confused with the former SNL rival MAD TV.

MAD on Cartoon Network really is an animated version of the monthly magazine.

Here's A Few Reason Why You Should Check It Out!

1. MAD is an original-With out the success of Mad Magazine would there even be a Cartoon Network?
How many people who work at CN were either readers of MAD or influenced by readers, writers and artists of Mad Magazine. I know it was my dream job at age 15.

2. Mad Is Still Original-Over the years a few MAD rip offs came and enjoyed various levels of success there was Marvel's Crazy and also Cracked. I thought both Crazy and Cracked were excellent comedy magazines. However, only Mad has been able to stay into the 21st century. Mad is still full of ever changing and original ideas ...all of them funny.

3. The Humor In MAD should make you think more than it makes you ANGRY.
One thing I enjoy about MAD while reading as an adult is that the humor is often based on serious issues, Hollywood's lack of new ideas, and just the funny things in life.

4. Watching Mad on Cartoon Network is a great way to connect with your kids. Why watch an episode and then share some classic issues or go to the news stand and pick up the latest.
It should be a great way to at least encourage the enjoyment of reading.

Good Night Neil Armstrong!

WHERE NO OTHER MAN HAD GONE BEFORE!

The word unique is used too much in this internet word.
So is the word "Exclusive."
The third most exclusive club in this world may be Men  Who Have Been Heavy Weight World Boxing Champs." And I remember when that meant something.

The second most exclusive club IS ...Men who have walked on the moon.

THEE MOST EXCLUSIVE CLUB is The First Man to Walk on The Moon.

That my friends was Neil Armstrong.

Most of us mere mortals from bloggers like me to the cast of Star Trek have only been beyond earth's atmosphere with our imagination.

Neil Armstrong who passed away this Saturday was living proof of Science Fact.

I for one will always love him for that.

Good Night Neil Armstrong and as long as there are people dreaming on other worlds or merely dreaming about other worlds on this one. Your courage and achievement will live on.

Robots....Made In Man's Own Image

COMPUTERS, ROBOTS and ANDROIDS...OH MY!
`
If there's one thing that Fiction and Science has taught us is that robots, androids and computers are capable of the same petty short comings as their creators.

Yes they have learned to be friends, house keepers, doctors.
They have also tried to take over the world and some how thought it "logical" to destroy all life because of its un predictable and emotional nature.

Still what is a good Fiction and Science series with out the robots we love and sometimes fear?

Who are your favorite Robots, Computers, Androids and why?

BRING ON THE BAD GUYS: Harcourt Fenton Mudd

Star Trek The Original Series', Harcourt Fenton Mudd is the blue print of a villain "you love to hate" or maybe even "hate to love."

The first time we meet "Harry Mudd" is using an alias. In one hilarious scene Mudd, Spock and The Enterprises' computer go back and forth on Mudd's name and who he really is. This set a long running premise that would carry into future appearances that what Harry Mudd saw as his reality and what was legally true were often at odds.

One thing I liked about Mudd is that he seemed to be the one human in the Star Trek world that really acted like the schmucks from the 20th century.

Sure if given the chance Harry Mudd would leave you marooned on a planet with out a ship. However, he never really showed any signs of being much more than an incredible pain in the butt.

His upside is that he was funny especially in scenes when he had to interact with the super logical Mr. Spock.

According to WIKI, they had planned to bring back Harry Mudd for the season one finale of Star Trek The Next Generation but actor Roger C. Carmel passed away before shooting could begin.

I myself would have loved to see Mudd engage the Quark in a juicy story.

Easily Harry Mudd is one villain I never tire of and can't wait to see again or read about in fan fiction.

Raymond Tyler

Okay thanks for reading. We have a no contest trivia question.
What was the alias that Harry Mudd used in his first appearance on Star Trek?
The first person to answer will receive a Super Man DVD from The Max and Dave Fleischer 1940's series.

BRING ON THE BAD GUYS: Anthony Freemont

BRING ON THE BAD GUYS...ANTHONY FREEMONT
CHILD ABUSE!
Words By Raymond Tyler

On November 3rd , 1961 narrator Rod Serling introduced the world to one of the most memorable monsters ever. And unlike Frankenstein or The Wolf Man, little Anthony Freemont (played by fiction and science vet Billy Mumy) looked neither scary or fearsome.

That is, until Anthony focused those eyes on you and reasoned you didn't like him.
Then things would get as bad for you as a line worker at Starbucks telling Paris Hilton there is no more avacato/lemon spice/something else absurd mocha-chino.

Anthony had the power to do anything his mind could dream up and absolutely no one to check him at all.

From the moment I saw The Twilight Zone episode IT'S A GOOD LIFE I was jealous because as a kid we were told that the monsters had fangs and long claws.
I thought writer Jerome Bixby's premise of making the monster a little boy was genious.

I believe that elements of It's a Good Life and the study of "God" in human form could be seen in later Ficton and Science offerings such as STAR TREK and Jean Grey of The X-Men (more so the Chris Claremont/John Byrne versions.

Gary Mitchell on Star Trek gained Freemont Like Powers in the very first episode of Star Trek.

In the pages of X Men writer Chris Claremont, and artist John Byrne examine what would happen if a hero gained more power than they could control.

If I ever get the time I have a great idea for a story...where Q or Tralane shows up in Peaksville, Ohio.

Fiction And Science.com Remembers Sherman Hemsley

Remembering Sherman Hemsley Words By Raymond Tyler!

Today we lost a great actor who blazed trails for many actors on TV.
Sherman Hemsley will indeed remember Hemsley as George Jefferson.

Here he is with another trailblazing actor Ron Glass (of Barney Miller) in what may be the best episodeof The 1980's Twilight Zone.

While I do not co sign stories about the devil...however this one is a classic.

On another Fiction and Science matter. Hemsley also played the boss at WE SAY SO on the show Dinosaurs.

He will be missed.

Happy Birthday To Trevor Von Eeden

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREVOR VON EEDON
From Fiction And Science.com

Tuesday July 24th

Illustrator Trevor Von Eedon was a teen phenom when he teamed up with Tony Isabella to co-create the iconic Black Lightning for DC Comics. (1960's)

Of course Black Lightning was totally ripped off in the "creation" of Black Vulcan who appeared in Challenge Of The Super Friends. (1970's)

It was a CRIME that Black Lightning was NEVER featured in the great series Justice League Unlimited. (2000's)

However, the effects of Black Lightning is still being felt by writers and artists of all colors.

Thanks Mr. Von Eedon and please enjoy The Happiest Of Birthday's.
